Lairagwan Primary School – Jua Kali, Nanyuki, Kenya
 With more than 700 pupils aged 2–14, Lairagwan Primary School is at the heart of its community. Through our Social Project at HBM Flowers Kenya LTD, we support the school in multiple ways. We provide potatoes from our crop rotation program, as well as fresh courgettes for the school kitchen. For many children, the daily school meal is often the most reliable source of food, as supplies at home are limited. Beyond food support, we have contributed to essential infrastructure: assisting in the installation of a borehole and water tank, building toilets, and equipping the kitchen with stoves. We are also proud that pupils walk to school wearing donated clothing from the Netherlands.

For us, this partnership is more than charity — it is a way to create sustainable impact, combining responsible farming with community development and giving children a stronger foundation for the future.

Supporting Local Initiatives

At HBM Flowers Kenya LTD, we actively support community-driven projects that strengthen safety, awareness, and well-being in our region. One example is our contribution to the Mount Kenya Community Patrol, a rapid response team set up to assist the police with fast transport and local intelligence on security issues.

We provide a monthly contribution to help cover the running costs of this important initiative. We also support the project “Keep Your Neighborhood Clean”, which encourages local children between the ages of 6 and 12 to collect Taka Taka (plastic, paper, bottles, and other waste) from the streets and their communities. As a reward, the young participants receive shoes, T-shirts, and food such as potatoes. This awareness project not only helps create a cleaner environment, but also educates the next generation on responsibility and sustainability.

Supporting Our Team

At HBM Flowers Kenya LTD, we believe our people are the foundation of our success. That is why we invest in their well-being through care, celebration, and education:

  • An annual Christmas celebration where family members are warmly invited.
  • Donation of food to employees during periods of drought, helping to prevent malnutrition among workers and their children.
  • Free access to borehole water during dry seasons, so employees do not have to buy expensive water or travel long distances.
  • Workshops on health, hygiene, nutrition, reproductive health, and more, aimed at empowering and educating our team.

Through these initiatives, we strive to create a supportive and resilient workplace where our employees and their families can thrive.
